Kanga Vovo (aka Patcho Star) - was given his nickname in 1976 by Papa Wemba. A musician from the Congo, he was born in 1953 in Kinshasa. He has played with many famous groups including Kawacha, Empire Bakuba, Pepe Kale, Viva la Musika, Victoria Eleyson, Zaiko Langa, and (last but not least) Jimmy Cliff.
Kanga's travels took him to Germany in 1996, where he helped create a variety of groups, including Africadelic, Ningana Jazz (Afro-Funk-Gruppen), various dance projects, and youth theater productions.
His current project "Brakka Mu Jazz" is a bridge between traditional music from the Congo (Brakka,Soukouss,Rumba) and genres like Reggae, Funk, Rock, and experimental world music.
